Locked Car Keys – Worst Nightmare

Picture of a woman with her car keys

The other day I was completed stranded outside of my car at 2 am in the freaking Wal-Mart parking lot. Like, literally stranded with no one else with me. Thank the Good Lord I had my cell phone with me to call a tow truck in Madison, TN, otherwise, I would have been hitchhiking to the nearest bus stop and I probably would have been kidnapped along the way.

Why in the heck do cars these days not all have a keyless entry option with a simple number code on the side of the driver’s side door? I mean that would solve so many issues. Think about it, through the year I bet there are like easily around 1 million car keys that are locked inside the vehicle with the driver’s awareness. How is freaking crazy is that statistic for you? Way over 1 million probably to be more accurate.

Key Lessons To Be Learned

Always, and I mean always, keep a spare key in your wallet. I did this for a little while actually. But I for some reason thought it would be a smart idea to take the spare key out of my wallet and place it in a drawer where it would be completely useless. My reasoning behind this was because my wallet was starting to feel a little but chunky. Dumbest decision I had ever made.

Keep A Spare Key In Your Wallet

Also, keep a towing company and locksmith’s phone number in your wallet. Do not keep this in your car, that would defeat the purpose of having it handy in the first place. If you lock your keys in your car, how are you going to get to the phone numbers in your glove department? Your not. SO keep that in your wallet! Right next to your spare key.

Keep A Towing Company and Locksmith’s Phone Number In Your Wallet

If you do both of these extremely reasonable things to do as an adult, you will save yourself a lot of time and trouble in the future. Let’s face it, at some point you are going to lock your keys in the car, just like I did, with no way of contacting anyone to notify them about it.

These are my tips for success 🙂

Work For Trade With A Local Plumber

S0 I have decided do update my outdoor plumbing system for next year’s crops. The current irrigation system is your typical, super complex sprinkler system that broadcasts water all over the place. Its pretty easy to set up, but I would prefer a more efficient system. A friend of mine is the best plumber in Antioch. His website plumbers Antioch features a video I made for him to trade for the irrigation set up. I’ll post the video at the bottom of the page.

So what I have been wanting is a drip-feed irrigation system that I can run across the rows of my garden. I’d like to expand to 3/4 of an acre and don’t want to waste all that water by broadcasting 4 sprinklers. The drip-feed system will literally drip water directly on the plant. You can do this in intervals of every six inches, twelve inches, and so forth. Here is a photo of one of my rows.

As you can see I have already tested out what the drip feed system can do. It works great and conserves a large amount of water in comparison to your standard sprinkler. In the rows here we have:

  • lettuce
  • kale
  • beets
  • swiss chard

On the right you can see a row of blueberries with another four rows of vegetable crops to the right of the berry bushes. Breaking up the rows with the blueberries and a technique you can use for your perennials crops. Its nice to have everything centrally located. This makes it so much easier for the composting, mulching, laying out rows, prepping rows, and all other preparation work for planting. Otherwise you end up having everything scattered all over the place such as tools, planting equipment, plants, and so forth.

So the plumber is coming by this weekend to install a faucet and a few lines. As I promised before, I’ll post his video below. If you are in the market to hire a plumber – Call these guys!

Home Improvement

Looking at my current home improvement project list, I have about 30 things that I need to do. Will I actually get to these, perhaps in the next lifetime. They just continue to build up one after the other, and most of them are things that necessarily don’t even need to be done. They are on my wish list!

So this is why I decided to make the blog. To procrastinate some more! I have always enjoyed writing so the theme here will be home improvement. I have a lot of friends in the construction industry that I’ll be giving shout outs to, so stay tuned to be put on blast!

This post in an introductory to my site. If you have any references or topic suggestions please let me know as I would love to hear them.

I am also an avid gardener and farmer, who loves to get his hands dirty growing glorious vegetables and fruits (blueberries). These take up a lot of my free time but the reward is priceless. We are leading into the winter months so now I will have the time to write some articles on my site for your enjoyment!

Pictures will be added as I find the time as well, and hopefully even some videos along the way. So stay tuned!
